Music at St. Philip, Cosham

Music plays an important part in our worshipping life at St. Philip’s. We have a regular, robed choir who sing for our Sunday services, and they meet once a week for choir practice, on Thursday night between 7pm and 8pm. Choir practice is fast paced and exciting, and we sing a wide variety of hymns, psalms and anthems to enhance the Sunday services. Many members of the choir have been singing for over 20 years, and loyalty and friendship are an important part of our choir life.

We also have a music group, who play with the piano and choir for the Family Service, which is held on the 1st Sunday of each month. We now have many arrangements of hymns and anthems and regularly draw on these to add variety to our music making.

The Ministry of Music is an essential part of worshipping for many of our congregation, and is led by Debbie Mitchell, who has been the Musical Director since 2001. Please contact her if you would like more information about our musical life.
